This is more for conformation....
When I press the brake pedal, it seems to "wobble", or pulse up and down and I hear a grinding noise .. I suspect that a disc is warped and needs to be replaced and/or the brake pads are worn out ..
I also seem to get a weird noise, kind of like a worn/stuffed bearing when I go over 80km/h .. seems to be more noticable when I'm in 5th gear , than in 4th ..

For the grinding noise, don't go much further before you check yourself or have the pads checked by someone who can. Quite easy to see how much pad is left by taking off each wheel and having a look in the middle of the brake caliper with a torch. You will see the steel brake pad back plate with the friction material on each side with the steel rotor as a sandwich in the middle. There should be at least 3mm of friction material on each pad but be aware that pads often wear unevenly.
The 'wobble' could be either a brake rotor which needs a 'skim' or really low brake pads as mentioned above.
My guess is the pads are worn out.

If theres big gouges in the disks Replace them at the same time as the pads. I would also give the front wheel bearings a going over. Bad bearings can also cause brake wobble but not grinding noises. You might be lucky and find a stone stuck somewhere it shouldnt be. Ive had this in the bighorn twice and about a dozen times in the work corolla but consider checking this as critically urgent. Its a repair your life depends on

already booked into a specialist brake place in the next day or so .. my money is on a warped disc .. If it's the front , I may get them to replace both the front discs and pads ....

Brakes are most definitely a safety issue and need to be checked out and taken very seriously as has already been stated.
Having said that, as geeves has already mentioned, it may be a wheel bearing. This was my experence however I have not had the related (or more likely unrelated) grinding noises.
I've owned my MU for about 2 and 1/2 years now, it's had a pulsing of the brake pedal while braking that whole time. I initially thought warped disc but after repacking and tightening the wheel bearings on one side the pulsing went from being noticeable by everyone in the vehicle to now just a slight pulse that only the driver notices.
BY THE WAY the MU has all ways passed it's WOF at the our local testing station with out so much as a comment about the braking system (ignoring the hand brake...grrr). The first time I took it in I was so surprised I actually asked them if they had made a mistake in passing it!! However I was told that the braking performance was well within range and there was no imbalance or pulling to one side so was not an issue.

Well, a few days later and $600 , it's all fixed ..
What happened was the inner pad on the right hand side had worn right down to the backing plate , which inturn wore down the face of the rotor ...so much that there was barely 1mm of metal on that side of the rotor .. the "wobbly" feeling of the pedal was the pad rubbing up against the internal reinforcing ribs of the rotor ..
so , after new rotors & pads, new pads/shoes in the hand brake .. it's all good again ...

Unusual for the inner pad to wear that badly. 1 possible cause Most likely the calliper slides were sticking causing this pad to drag. I would hope the brake place checked this at the same time but worth checking the calliper slides yourself every now and then and regreasing these. I do mine every 6 months
