I have a hilux front axle fitted and 60 series landcruiser steering arms. I am looking at mounting a steering dampener. I have two options of fitting the dampener. Is it best fitted as a hilux, from diff to steering arm, or like the landcruiser from steering arm to chassis?

If you get bump steer I would say from the diff to arm to slow the effect, but if you want it so the steering wheel is less effected by hitting a rut the from the chassis to arm.

Thanks yarno. I think we will go from arm to chassis. Also no fabrication of the steering components will be required this way.

Dampers only mask a problem. In saying that though a 4wd needs to work over such a range of angles that its nearly impossible to correct the real fault. Before worrying about a damper try and get your tie rods as close to horizontal as possible. This is why a lot of lifted trucks suffer bump steer.
