Is there one auto fluid better than the rest? I have never asked what they use when I put it in for a service, the transmission goes great for a few thousand K and then seems to go back to crap.

When you get the fluid changed do they also do the filter? Although there is much discussion on the merits of one engine oil over anouther you hear nothing similar for auto trans oil apart from the 2 types which cant be interchanged (blue in some fords red for the rest)

Hi Alan, yep get the full service, normally get it done every 12 months, but probably 20 months now. Hoping it has a bit to do with our poor fuel economy, 7.5KPL norm 9.5KPL

Normally autos get serviced every 25000km. Unless somethings realy wrong it shouldnt affect ecconomy. Is it slipping or is the lock up not working in the torque converter. Is something else wrong

It wont change back to 2nd at 80k when you floor it, and it use to, will at around 70. Now this is Anne's Wizard and she drives it a bit different to me I was under the impression that the economy went down when I put the new turbo on as well, it has a different hose set up than the standard turbo and it may have been loosing some boost as well thru a loose hose, now fixed and running 12.5 psi. And at the same time I put a set of 265/75 x 16 tyres on instead of the 245/70 x 16 ;D. So there has been a couple of changes hahahahaha so I am getting the trans done on Wed and will be taking it for a good drive to Brissy this week end so will let you know how it goes. Cheers Bruce

Remember to allow for the fact that the speedo is now reading about 5% lower ie 800km is really 808. For some reason 3.1s to seem to gobble fuel with big tyres but 265s are not really a big tyre
