have a 2.8 td, was replacing glow plugs, broke the tip off in #4 hole, i guess the weld on it wasnt clean enough and it broke off when i tried to take it out after it wouldnt go in all the ways. soooo, aside from removing the entire head to get this piece out that is wedged in- anyone got any ideas?

Is it in far enough to seal? The 2.8 only needs glow plugs below 0C (-32F)

i could thread a like size bolt in there to seal it off, there is room for that. i was thinking that the high compression might just blow the stuck bit out? maybe a bolt to cap it off and give it some time to work itself loose will save me the trouble of taking the head off and all. good tip about the glow plugs though, my winters get a lil colder here than 0C so i would like to have the use of the glow system. thanks again!

Might do damage on the way. Best bet would be to consult an engine reconditioner or if you can find one a diesel mechanic. They have tricks they wont tell us about but even if the head does have to come off its not a huge cost and you get to see what condition the inside of the engine is in
