Just got back from an overnight test of the LSD . Went great. Just kept going. Even in pretty ... articulated ... conditions with wheels coming off the ground. I can now put some power down going uphill, without just sitting still and spinning the wheels. Was only stopped by not being able to go any further up the hill, as there was a tree in my way (not for much longer). We started putting it in on saturday night, finished around 3pm sunday. The main things things that held us up were a seized, cross threaded nut & bolt, and not being able to get the old diff off the axle housing even though it was unbolted (very strong sealant). We also changed my mate's wheel stud in that time frame while we gave the MU a break. Overall, really happy with it. Seeing what the LSD has done to "climbabilty" ... I think the Lokka will make the MU completely unstoppable ;D

Went into 4wd systems Auckland today. They do not sell Lokkas anymore. He said i'd have to source one from elsewhere and then he'd put it in. I've asked himuzulux about a Lokka, and if he can't get me one, the only other option is to go directly to 4wd systems Aus. Talking to my mate today (a drifting nut), he said screw paying that much for a locked front diff. Why not just weld a open diff together and save lots of money. As with manual hubs, the truck will still freewheel normally, but when locked, it will be fully locked. Rugged style. What are your opinions? Just ordered a lokka from OZ last week, expect to see it sometime this week. Cost is $500aud but can confirm once its cleared customs, added gst, etc but I'm sure it'll still be cheaper than genie4x4. My MU front diff is in bits on my bench ready for the lokka.

Hello there,Im the rough bugger that welded my front diff on my mu.I have had no problem doing u turns and dogging in and out of trees in must situations. You need to turn with a bit of throtle to help the steering wheel turn on to lock which is fine in most situations(dirt and mud).It is harder to turn on hard flat rock (like some of the corners up thompsons)but you dont need your hubs locked in with that sort of traction.Sand, mud ,grass and loss metal are not a problem.I blew my first cv because i was hard on the gas getting out of a creek on a rocky bank.Note that steering is alot heavier and will try to sraighten up as soon as you loosen your grip on the wheel.Im happy with the way it drives but then Im a rough bugger.Cheers

To work out gear ratio devide driven crownwheel tooth number by pinion gear tooth number, its the only way to be sure.
