I'm thinking of trading in my 2.8 mu as it has done 163000 kms and I don't want it crapping out on me as I'm am not as capable as you guys at fixing things. Looking at purchasing a 3.1 mu which has only 40000 guaranteed kms on it but have noticed the muffler is completely stuffed, probably from lack of use. Everything else is mint on it. It's priced at $11990 but I would want a reduced price because of that, how much roughly should I allow to get the system replaced with a 2.5" one from the flexi back. It has one of those warm up units on it after the flexi. I would like to retain this too.

Best way to get a price for an exhaust is to ask your local pitstop. They might not make the absolute best exhausts but they do ok and are reasonably priced. How well do you trust the certification on this? Assuming its a 95 thats only 4000k a year. if its a 97 its still only 5000 a year. A thing a lot of people dont relise with super low milage cars is that they quite often have poor maitenance histories. ie oil change might of been done every 5000k but this might be every 14 months More likley its missed a few oil changes. Get it checked by a competant mechanic If yours has been properly maintained it might still be a better prospect than this nice new milage one.

Yeah I thought the mileage seemed a little low for the year, all though it appears to be mint in the interior etc. I got to look at it before the car groomers and water blasters. There is oil around the sump somewhere, not serious just surface. I would have expected it to be mint in the oil leak department. Thing is with my one, someone owned it for the apparentely 131000 kms before me so I don't know its service history either but I know everything like radiator, tranny, cambelt etc is fully serviced now. Where as the other one has "maybe" only had 40000kms of abuse. I don't want to sell it, but am wondering how much more I can get out of it before it starts getting more expensive to fix than a lower mileage one. Yip, I will have to get it checked by a mechanic before I buy it, if I get serious about it. Do you have any idea what my current one would be worth at 163000 kms roughly. It's very tidy inside and out.

My gut feeling would be to stick with your current truck. If nothing is going wrong and you like it as much as you seem to then it would be a shame to swap it for the unknown.
I've seen 2.8 TD Isuzus well past 250,000kms when well serviced and still pulling strong.
I have major concerns with vehicles that low in the km's for reasons already pointed out by Geeves, as well as rubbers perishing due to non-use, etc.
Personally I think I'd stick with old faithful until it actually starts to look like it is going to cause problems.
