Mandrel bent does not reduce the diameter of the pipe around the bends. = bigger exhaust pathway = More flow = More power (potentially)
Jimmy.

that is in theory, but in actual usage, is it really noticeable? anybody here got a crushed bent 2.5" pipe and still got a good increase in torque and hp? i was quoted here in the philippines for only around AUD$120 converted from our currency cheap labor! hahaha ;D

Mine was a crush bend and is still 2 inch to the first join and the improvment was very noticable The front pipe will be done when it wears out as the expansion joint is not cheap

2.5" Mandrel Bent fitted by Men at Work Exhausts. What they assured me was from the turbo back when I was quoted and booked her in is actually from the dump pipe back. But at $450 one cannot complain and the job is actually quite neat and included a true straight through exhaust, new flexi and flanged joints in aboiut 3 places down the pipe. As to the question of power. Their is a definate impovement across the rev range. The engine feels like it is not working as hard at eny given rev and the responsiveness has improved substantially. Power is smooth all the way to redline and I can change gear earlier. She reached 108km/h at the peak of the gateway bridge yesterday from a standing start at the toll booth while half full of gear. Which I was impressed about. I would say, and this is just how it feels, torque has increased more than power and the turbo producing about 300 rpm earlier. Sounds good too Jimmy.

anyone here has done their exhaust around the Sydney area, if so where, and how much?
Went to one place in Roselands and they said it would be just a waste of money installing an exhaust because its a diesel. I would probably loose torque and only gain very minimal on performance wise........ Im kinda confuse now if its worth installing an exhaust for my MU. Probably will go for a 2nd opinion.....
If anyone here has done their exhaust around the Sydney area let me know ay!

Any turbo is going to benifit from a more open exhaust with better low and high end perfomance. This applies to diesels and petrol. A boy racer type exhaust tho is probably a waste of time.

Any prices? I decided to give them a call today. Was told $750 for 2.5" exhaust, mandrell bends and the dump pipe off the turbo. Or $780 for 3" pipe. No flash boy racer muffler/tip. or approx $480 to use the factory dump pipe section on the turbo.
It's all tempting me very much, I just need to save a few more $$ first.

Dragan, I'm still trying to sell it but while I've got it I might as well enjoy it and I've always wondered how it would go with exhaust, intercooler and more boost Richie, yeah I called Western Mufflers on the number Dragan gave above. If you want to ask him how much to do 2 of them, then let me know Mines a 3.1 btw. Cheers, Graham.
