Hey was just wondering what tyres people are running. Im lookin at getting some mud terrain dont want to have heaps of noise on the rd though i want them to wear good aswell. I'm also looking at changing to 15" steel ROH rims. Can anyone give me some advice on sizes what will fit on a factory setup
cheers

What vehicle do you have? Some cant take 15 inch rims. 31 inch diamiter works quite well (265x75x16 or 31x10.5x15) work quite well with no mods 32s will fit but might rub a little 33s require a small lift and effect gearing a fair amount. Bigger has been done but expect problems or big costs. Brands could cause big arguments but these are the ones that fit your request best in no particular order. Cooper STT,Goodyear MTR good in mud and on road wet and dry fairly quite and last well. Honkook RT01 GtSavero MT last well ok on road dry adequate in the wet good off road but a little noisy (not that bad in a diesel) Good price. Maxis Buckshot Work well on any surface but wear quickly very cheap. Also worth considering BFG MT, Bridgestone Firestone 23 and dunlop. I have the Gt Savero and would buy them again but not if I could get the MTR or Cooper at the same price (normaly about 30% more)

For the money I found it hard to overlook the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R. I'm running a set of 31" on 15" Nissan steels. No complaints after a year of tarseal on weekdays and forest tracks at weekends. Check the price at "4WDbits" - cheap postage too!

An Aussi mag did a report on the Buckshots a couple of years ago. Couldnt fault them for grip in mud sand rock gravel and tar seal. Described them as the best mud tyre on wet roads and fairly quiet. The downside weas they wore 2 mm in the 2000km test giveing a life under 20000km. Even taking into account that they were working the tyre pretty hard then even double this is less than average these days

The issue with 15 inch rims applies to some 3.1 Mus If your handbrake is a drum inside the disk you will have trouble making them fit and have to stay on 16s
