Can someone please help me out.
My 93 MU is in the workshop at the moment and has had to get a new caliper and an overall brake service. The mechanic wants to know what the minimum brake thickness specification is. I think this info is in the workshop manual.
If someone could please let me know what this specifiaction is it would be greatly appreciated.

Dave, according to the Haynes Frontera manual for 91-98 under leaf spring suspension it is:
Front Disk Minimum Thickness: 20.6mm Maximum disk run out: 0.13 mm Minimum pad lining thickness: 1.0mm
Rear Disk Minimum Thickness : 16.6mm Maximum disk run out: 0.13 mm Minimum pad lining thickness: 1.0mm
This manual includes the 4JB1T motor.
Hope that helps.

About that Haynes book,
Does it cover most things relating to an MU?
I've seen the workshop manuals advertised and they are more than $200.
Would you recommend the Frontera book?

I got it when I brought my first MU, which was a 93 2.8. And it mainly applys to the motor and general running gear. I've been since looking for a Holden Jackaroo manual for the 4JG2 motor but yet to find one. But for $28 it has enough useful info to keep it under the Drivers seat for reference. J

If you go to the DBA website there are a heap of PDF files with all the disc/drum brake specs for thickness etc on just about every model.
You can cross referance the Rodeo and the Jackaroo, ie 1116 pads for -92 MU and you can see the rears from a SWB Jackaroo!
Might be of some interest!

Matt,
Thanks for that info.
I looked on the DBA site and i'm just trying to work out which specs are likely to be the most correct.
My mechanic told me that the minium thinckness when he took the brakes apart were 21.5 mm at the front and 11.5 mm at the rear.
Looking at the DBA specs the front brakes are closest to the Jackaroo UBS 17, UBS 55 1988-91 @ 20.6 mm and the rear are closest to the Jackaroo UBS 16,17,52,55 1987-91 @ 10.6 mm.
Would you say that these specs are the closest thing to a 93 MU?
Dave.
