Hi guys, when you lift your ISUZU's do you need to change the uj behind the gearbox? and if yes what do you use? I'm having a bit of a prob as i am fitting a 4jb1 engine + manual gearbox into a landrover, and the gearbox seems to be prettey high when compared with the rear diff. any ideas would be appreciated.

I dont know anyone thats modded a driveshaft except when doing front live axle conversions. There has been a couple that have developed vibration though and my rear uj seems to only last 3 years between changes. The ujoints are the same as hilux . If you are useing a one piece driveshaft then the tailshaft of the gearbox and pinion shaft of the diff should be paralel. If 2 piece then this holds for both ends of each half of the driveshaft. If not expect some vibration although sometimes huge differances work perfectly. I thought the diff heads on the landrover were in the wrong place to use the isuzu box Is this not the case? If your worried about the angle or if it breaks you can go to a double carden type joint but its uncharted waters

you are right, the landy diff is found abit offset, not like isuzu's, although conversins like mine have already been done. The result is quite tight, although it works fine. I was wondering if i would have problems with articulation, and thats why i asked. do you mean that with rather high lift kits, isusuz's still use the stock 'sliding yoke' (the uj behind the gearbox)?
