well went out for a play on sunday and it was all good and on way home started to hear a clunkin sound and could feel it thru the floor down by wer the drive shaft slides into gear box, so i pulled driveshaft off and put in gear gave a few revs not 1 noise that shouldn't be there.put drive shaft back on and jacked the ass up and put it in gear and let the wheels spin and heard or felt nothin but up and down driveway it was there. so i not sure. universal maybe? can see they called mysterious utilities for a reason!!

If there is any play at all in any of the universals that is the problem. Try turning them by hand both ways and moveing side to side. The good news is they are cheap and easy to buy as they are the same as hilux

Hi I've developed a clunk in the rear, and am now concerned that my six bolts might make my corner drop off doing 100kph, but with all the cryptic stuff about not feeling stupid is making me paranoid. I promise not to call you stupid, and I promise no-one else will read it if you let the secret out, but what the hell are you talking about? (modified one hour after listing) Hang on, I thought about it a bit more. Are we talking about a wheel? Do MU wheels have six bolts? ?? Cheers Ian

Check all the rest. They should be torqued to 80 foot pound. On mine I also know they were tight when I swapped over the wheels from my rough set a week earlier but they were all not tight. Loosing a wheel is not a pleasant experience but mine was on the back so not quite as exiting a ride as yours could of been. Still cost me 6 studs, a brake disk, a set of mag wheels as we couldnt match the after market ones on there, damage to a flair, a set of wheel nuts and a set of locking nuts. Indirectly it also caused a broken windscreen. It could of been far worse as I had just overtaken a cyclist when the wheel came off and the wheel crossed an intersection and took off up a bank then rolled back at right angles to the rush hour traffic before I caught it. I get a little paranoid with wheel nuts these days
