Hi,

Does anyone know if the MUA5 box that came off a 3.1 mu will bolt straight up to a 2.8? Are they interchangable? I was told they are all the same. I can get a MUA5 box to throw into my 92 2.8 mu. Or the 2.8 motor into the later model mu (96).

There is something different about the clutch and flywheel but not sure. The 3.1 engine uses a stronger and more expensive clutch

i am using the 2.8 bighorn clutch and want to bolt the 3.1 gearbox on the 2.8 motor. will this work straight forward do you think? thanks

Should work but check the plate goes onto the spline first. If it doesnt you may have to change the plate which is where the fun begins. Its slightly different in diamiter so might not fit the pressure plate so you then need the new presure plate but are the bolt holes in the right place. At least the flywheels can be swapped
