i have a 1990 4jb1t manual MU hardtop
my problem is that i'm always having a hardtime shifting into gears, especially during from stop going to 1st gear and 2nd gear and the reverse. also during downshifts.
i just recently changed pressure plate and clutch lining, and seals for the transmission. refaced the flywheel. put in gear oil (i know that engine oil is the right thing to put in- but i already got this in before i knew that it should be engine oil, might as well use it)
adjusted the push rod to the limit ( i replaced original push rod with adjustable one), but still having a hardtime getting into gear.
i need to sometimes rev a little to get it into gear, which helps at times. but on other times, even revving won't help. i just push the stick to get the da*n thing into gear.
haven't opened the whole gear box yet, hopefully don't have to, coz that would cost much.
i need help! thanks!

Try replacing the oil. The gear oil could be too thick and is preventing the syncros from doing their job.

Replaceing the oil would be first choise. I would also suggest putting a cheap oil in drive it for a week then change again to get the last of the gearoil additives out. What gear oil did you use. If this doesnt help try one of the tool kits in a bottle for gearboxes.

If you were in NZ I would of sent you to BNT who has both slave and master cylinders fairly cheap. They also have seal kits but hardly worth the effort You are bound to have somwhere similar up your way or if worse comes to worse try Repco or Supercheap. Try bleeding the system first though It might be all it needs. If you have problems getting all the air out suspect the master cylinder. They are not hard to change

Mine is now spewing fluid. So I think she is Cactus.
The part code listed on the NSW site K8585 for the master seal kit does not match up with anything my local holden dealer has on system.
Maybe a replacement unit is the go.
As soon as people mention MU the price doubles.
Jimmy.

From memory I paid 35 for the slave cylinder and 57 for the master Kits were about 2/3 this. Try after market places or clutch/brake specialists Holden prices are only reasonable on parts you cant get anywhere else.
