I have a 94 bighorn and the front wheel bearings need adjusting. When I remove the outer cover of the automatic free wheel hub I can remove the circlip and the outer half comes away but the rear portion can only be removed about half a centimetre and jams. Have I missed something or do I just need a bigger hammer? Thanks Ken

I had that on a manual hub due to rust in the hub and had to leaver it off but do not consider this normal Check to make sure nothing else is holding it then lever gently Mine only took 2 small screwdrivers one on each side but to give an idea of the rust Aprox half a cup of water the colour of beef gravy drained out when the hub was opened. See my earlier post on the axle bearing.

Thanks. I will try again when I get time. I couldn't find your letter in the post but I am not computer literate. TIP I had did not have the proper pliers to get the circlip back on. I got a socket the same size as the shaft and put the circlip on the socket then bolted the socket to the end of the shaft making sure it was lined up then gently tapped the clip onto the shaft.

Interesting method with the circlip Ive always used a pair of needle nose pliers with the tips sharpened. To find my post on the axle bearing use the menu to go to faults and questions/drivetrain. That bearing and seal in the back of the stub axle cost me 3 sets of wheel bearings and about 10 hub rebuilds
