I run an auto locker in the front diff, called a Lokka from 4WD Systems in Adelaide Aus, delevered in Aus $575. Works great, fitting take about 5/6 hours as u have to take most of the front end out, but that would be the case with an one of them. I was told they are going to develope one for the rear next year. Cheers Bruce

Have an aussie lokka in front of my 88 swb bighorn, with lsd in rear - lokka supplied by steve at 4wdstuff in Chch for about $525, though exchange rate could have forced that price up a bit. V impressed with lokka esp in hillclimbs and uneven ground, and will give it a good workout Labour weekend on the Old Man range and a few other slippery spots. Front lokka can have a bit of a mind of its own, but you're travelling slower now with the extra traction so not really a problem. Big advantage. But then so is the addition of a lsd.
My model bighorn has a 10 bolt rear diff, and if I remember rightly from talking to 4wd Systems in Adelaide, there is a rear lokka currently available for this model also - I think..This needs checking but could give some choice for bighorn owners.
Part no for lokka for my bighorn 4.3 ratio diff is LR39 - 17 spline. If you are interested in lokka Jeff, best thing is phone 4wd Systems and check options - though I think mus are 12 bolt diffs? 4wd Systems = 00618 8369 0033.
And a random thought for offroaders - just fitting a new set of 32" hankook RTO1 muds, and amazed that the old ones did 42,000ks for just 6mms of wear - from 14ms new, down to 8ms. Hell of a good performance for a not expensive tyre. I change them at 8mms to keep sharp tyres but if run right out they would do 85-90,000ks. Amazing for basic muds. Thoroughly recommended.
Mike.
