Speaking of front drive shaft... Well along those lines anyway. When under the MU doing an oil change, I noticed a small gap between where the front axle goes into the hub. I pulled on the axle and I can move it out about an inch or more from the hub area, then slide right back in. I assume this is not normal?? What holds the axle in the hub? Is it something a relative novice can pull apart for a looky looky?

take the free wheeling hub off and check that the cir clip is still on the outer axle mate, if it is not don't put it back on but get new ones. Not a big job, it did happen to me, wandering why I could not get drive in the front wheels. Cheers Bruce

If youve been near water with it like that expect to find evidence inside the hub. A full regrease of the bearings might be a good idea at the same time. (If its been like this for a while you are probaly looking for a new wheel bearing very soon anyway)
