Jackals, firstly are your wheels WELL balanced, it doesnt take much of an imbalance to shake the sh_t out of the car. If so look around the wheels do they look straight (round) and not buckled of damaged in anyway (look from underneath too)
It sounds to me that you have an imbalance somewhere, maybe even a faulty tire, the belt can sometimes come away inside and the tire donuts slightly instead of having a nice flat tread. This will shake the car like crazy.
If there is not anything glaringly obvious then you will have to use trial and error, or elimination. Balance the tyres, watch the guy doing it and watch the rim spin on the machine, some tyres can blalance even when buckled.
Goodluck and let us know what happens!
Matt.

have you had a wheel alignment / balance done ?
If either of these are out you get the behaviour you mention.

Sounds like the same problem I had. As Matt said above both my front tyres for stuffed as the belt had come away inside the tyres and they were out of shape.
It took the guy at t mart about 2.5 seconds to find the problem. 1.5 hours and $750 to fix it, ended up getting four new tyres. Been smooth as ever since.
Cheers, Adrian.

Wil have a look at the tyres. It only happens when I drive about 110-120 kmph.If I go faster ex 140 kmph the shaking stops. When I drive slow ex 40 kmph there are no sign of shaking. The steering runs straight and when braking there are no shaking in the steering wheel aswell. Please advice.......

Sounds to me like a stuffed tyre or wheel balance problem. If it were the alignment it would wander off at any speed. J

Harmonic resonance ;D A friends old Gemini used to do the same thing at 110kph. It was still there after a few years. If ever driving in a 110 zone, he just drove at 120. It was a good warning device when in a 100 or lower zone though My MU also vibrates around 120kph. It's mainly just the auto gear selector and housing which vibrates, so maybe it's a slightly worn engine/gearbox mount? (are they rubber?) I haven't got any answers, just thought I'd share that. Cheers, Graham.

HI all
I had the tyres balanced, wheel alighment done.New front shocks, new idler arm fitted, new balljoints(upper and lower). The shaking is less but I can still feel that something is wrong. Can it be the rear shocks as I didn't replaced them yet. When I go over a speed hump it feels like the front wheels moves to the sides.
help please

Got to be something heavy creating a weight shift to do that. Engine mounts or wheel bearings is where I'd look next, though I'd have thought with the ball joint work they'ed have picked up a bearing that stuffed. J

check your driveshaft universals,i bet there's one ceasing or about to fall apart, get underneth and and try moving your shaft by hand back and forth, also check rear end for movment ,push back sideways and up and down etc

Check your drive shaft universal joints too!! If there is any movement in them, similar speed dependant vibrations can occur.

Driveshaft universals would have to be really bad to cause that kind of shaking. When they're worn the vibration happens in the no load area between accelerating and decelerating. The driveshaft could have lost it's balance weigh or could be bent.Does it have a 1 or 2 piece driveshaft? If a 2 piece the middle joint could be stuffed or it's mounts loose or broken. get some mates to lead and follow you on the road and look to see if anything's wobbling.Check the front pulley runs true at idle although if it's loose it would have fallen off by now.You could set the truck up on axle stands and run it up to speed so you can see if anything's not right.Aim it in a safe direction and have someone in the drivers seat to stop it if it falls off the stands.DON'T get underneath it. Hope this helps,Harry.

Hi all,
Thanks for the reply.
I have founded the problem.I use to use only one tyre dealer because they had the best prices for tyres. I thought lets try a different dealer and had the tyres rebalanced. The new tyre shop did rebalancing of all the tyres and couldn't get them right. They removed the tyre from the rim and also removed a half cup of water aswell. The previous tyre shop I use to support did not have a watertrap on the compressor.Sorry for them...they lost a good customer.

Trying to balance out water would have been an interesting excercise!

Tyre dealer got caught out on one of my tyres. I run tubes and he hadnt waited long enough for the air to bleed out from between the tube and tyre. Every time he spun the machine the reading was different. Took him 40 min to ballence that tyre. By the all the others had settled and he did the other 3 in 10 minuites. Learnt some interesting words to describe the process
