Hi all,
I recently noticed a problem, (I thinks its front auto locker/hub related) but when I down steep hills with ruts I feel a shutter in the front right wheel only. I have an auto so i used Low 4x4 and low gear 1 and if the car is moving forward to fast I brake and it occurs.
Now what I think is happen is that with the Front locker in the drive is locked with the rear and when going down hill in LOW range around max engine revs, if I brake, it causes the splines to slip in the hub?
Therefore a hub problem(I had replaced the old auto hubs with Asins TF rodeo ones), CV is tight, doesn't move and just had it replaced so it should not be a CV issue.
What you guys think, I also get it when I turning left at speeds on sand and the front dig into the sand (you know the moments when are driving around 60-70km on sand and you are hugging the hard sand and water, and you brake or turn the wheel (left in the case) over the softers crests/small hills (thats when your heart goes a tad quicker and you says to yourself I'll slow down now or I'll roll it,......I don't go that fast or tipping but thats the situation I was trying to get across_
Ideas please
Chris

hi pissy i have the same set up but with manual hubs & sometimes i get that shudder too?, so the next time it happened i stuck my head out the window & noticed the wheel was wobbling first i thought lug nuts where loose but not the case, so i jacked the lower A-arm up & wobbled the wheel myself found to have excessive play in tie rod ends. when replaced i did the same test noticeably less play & shudder has'nt come back. might pay to do the same check. hope this solves it for yours too. regards muvit
