Hey guys,
Its been a rough two or so weeks for my MU....poor thing has taken 2 bumps to the rear right panel...one dinting and one severly scratching the paintwork and to make things better i got a puncture the other night and had to limp home...but thats another story. Anyway when i was out at Ormeau with a few mates last weekend i dropped into a hole and heard something crunch under my feet at the front of the car around the suspension/hub/diff area..... Now we had a quick look and couldnt see anything wrong but what the problem im having now is that when im in 4H or 4L and i plant the power on all i hear from the front is grinding....but it still grips and when i ease the power on it revs all the way to 4200 or so perfectly fine without an issue. Obvioulsy i want this to stop so can anyone narrow the problem down and give me an idea of what cost im going to be looking at?
Cheers Kurt.

First reach under the front and turn the axle by hand Any noise should be obvious. then if no joy jack that wheel up and turn the axle again then lock the hub (assuming manual hubs) and turn the wheel. This might need to be done at full lock each way Once youve done this you should have an idea where the noise is comeing from My money is on the outer cv but it could be the hub or diff

Gobbles, ...what Alan said, spin it all by hand jacked up and listen forything out of the ordinary. If nothing then I would drop the front diff oil, Mus have a bad habbit of destructing the fron diff. You might have cracked a spider gear and its on its way out, so look for some metal (flecks) in the oil.
Good news the lokka for the front is cheaper than a spare diff!! Twice the traction!!
Matt.

Thats what im thinking....go the lokka haha.....but yeah ill get around to doing it on the weekend been a rough week. Also when hubs are locked at in 4h/4l on the road it wont faulter i can run it hard through the rev range in all gears and high/low but when off road it whinges like a pregnant dog which makes me think that jacking it up might not replicate the problem....Either way ill do it and let yas know.
Cheers, Kurt.
