We have a 1999 Wizard with 4JX1. Has anyone had this fault? I have had the fluid changed, the sensors cleaned and the front pads changed. I've also tried an ECU reset, and I have a code reader which finds no faults. Any ideas?
Thanks, Mike

I think its a trip to the dealers or a decent brake specialist on that one sorry. It might be the ecu or the abs unit itself. You change the front pads What about the rear?

The mechanic checked the rears and reckoned they were OK. It was he who ordered the front pads in after checking the sensors and chnaging the fluid.
Unfortunately there aren't any main dealers here. The mechanic works for the Toyota & Mazda dealership but they hardly ever sell new cars. They run a hire car fleet, and several of the hire cars have their ABS lights on contiuously.

Over here a car with the abs light on all the time would be ordered off the road untill it was fixed. I dont know the rules over there but if the they hire cars with this fault and your brakes are working ok its tempting not to worry about it. You dont have a lot of high speed roads do you. Chances are that your brakes are working as std brakes without the abs component so more likely to skid in a panic stop but not any more than the 1000s of cars out there that never had abs

It would seem the rules here aren't as strict. My mechanic also does the annual rego check. He took it for a hard run (as far as that is possible here) and reckoned the ABS was still working. Mysterious!
