I have a 1996 Isuzu Bighorn I repalced the rear Brake Pads two weeks ago. This last week i had noticed there was an unusal noise comming from the Left rear disc I pulled it apart removed the brake caliper and found that the inner Brake Pad was bent and the wheel would not turn at all ( It has a limited slip diff) I put in a new caliper kit New brake pads (Lucas) and still the wheel will not turn ( When both rear wheels are jacked up off the ground) If i remove the pads the wheel will turn fine.. Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be
Cheers

Why is the brake pad bent? Does the caliper move freely on its slides?

I have no idea how it got bent The caliper does slide relatively freely on the slide bolts. I cant understand why the hub will turn freely with the pads out and not when they are in.

My only thought is that youu have faulty or incorrect pads. Hopefully you still have the originals for comparison. only listing we have is db1280 if that helps

Did you reset the slack adjustor? with new pads you would normally need to wind it out just to get the new ones in.

I agree with James W. First thing I do now before changing rear pads is to unadjust the handbrake cable and the small grub screw (6mm allen key from memory) that adjusts the resting position of the brake piston. (This is all on a 92 Mu which may be different from 96 Bighorn setup).

Thats James' patch if you need help. The 96 has a separate drum brake inside the disc so the instruction above does not apply. From what I can make out your calipers should be little different to std front calipers in design so the only thing to remember is pistons pushed fully back and slides working correctly. The caliper should slide over the pads with very little resistance.

Hi Thanks for the advice but have fixed the problem One of the threads for the slide bolt was a little suffed so it was pulling the caliper out of alignment which was causing the the pads to lock on to the disc
