Bad news. There is a seal between the gearbox and transfer case. When this leaks all the gearbox oil leaks into the transfer case which is lower than the gearbox so it runs out the breather. Its inside the gearbox/trany case assembly so expect a big bill. If you drive it like this you might be driving with no oil in the gearbox which is likely to throw its cogs out of the case in disgust. Only cheap trick I can offer which will get me called a butcher and cowboy would be to fit an extended breather on the transfer case so the oil cant run out of it then keep the gearbox topped up regularly till the levels settle. Its very crude but the practical alternative is a second hand gearbox.

sounds like the seal between the transfer and gearbox is gone, the oil from the gearbox may have drained into the transfer and made it overflow...
Is yours manual or auto??
edit: I'm a bit slow posting eh...
if it is auto box it should be a cheap job.
