I wouldnt use a gear with a chip unless I had no choise. If you do use it expect the repair to be temporary. The diff is the same across the Isuzu range from 88 onwards exept for the 2 ratios and different front and rear. Is yours 4.3 or 4.56? I have a spare 4.3 rear diff here in Wellington you can have for the cost of freight but it does have a little play and a leaky pinion seal. I replaced it on mine with a LSD diff. Comercial wreckers want around $450 for an isuzu lsd

Hamish - I've got an old diff here in Chch which you can have - its a 4.3 ratio. Bit noisy but maybe you could get some spare bits off it or use it to drive round for a few weeks. A word of warning - be incredibly careful to tighten the rear pinion nut to exactly the correct factory torque as too tight means you'll collapse the spacer and stuff your diff in no time. You can come and get the diff anytime if you want it - 3224570.
One local company who could check your present diff and advise is the Diff Shop, 44 Somme St St Albans, 3556077.
Mike - ps are you coming on the weekend trip.
