transfer problem

Hey guys pulled my box out the other night have removed transfer casing to find nothing wrong with it, Just wondering if there is suppose to be a gasket between the gearbox and transfer casing, when i pulled it out there was no gasket or sealant around the faces is this normal for isuzu?
Have found since that gear shift mechanisim that bolts to the top of the gearbox had blocked breathers which was causing oil to piss out all over the box has anyone else come across this? blocked breathers and if so was there oil spill out all over the box?

When you say blocked breathers do you mean deliberately blocked or full of mud or something?
