Has anyone had any experiance reseting isuzu springs and how well do they last. I need to get mine done as ive had enough of useing the crossmembers and transfer case as ploughs. I know new springs would be better but the bank manager disagrees.

I had my springs reset about four years ago with no probs with sagging. The older and more shagged the springs the less well a reset will take and in which case you'd add an extra leaf. Have a chat with your local spring maker and see what they say.

any idea of a good price to get this done, I was talking to the local 4wd shop and they said about $400 for the rear, should lift it about 1 to 2 inches. Cheers

Mate brand new Pedders spring packs only cost me $400 for heavy duty Rodeo springs!!
They dont even compare in structure, the origionals are single wrap and looked like they were out of a sedan compared to a heavy 4WD.
Personally I dont like resetting old springs, the metal is old and has had a lot of stresses in its time due to wear and tear. I would always put new metal under it compared to resetting unless the reset was subtle and only a $100 or so!!
ps the ride with the H/D Rodeo pring s was great and lifted it about 2 inches over the sagged originals. After 4 years and 160 000km, I have just fitted the Calmini extended shackles for a little extra lift!! Aprox 67 cm from the edge of the guard to the bottom of a 15 inch rim!

What weight load were your springs? I spoke to Pedders and the bloke said that he reckons the h/d springs are made to carry about a tonne. However, it was a presumption. I don't want standard Rodeo spings as the MU is obviously heavier but don't want a back breaking ride with 1 tonne h/d springs.

Ive just done Lovells springs in a Bighorn and would have to say new springs are the only way to go Even heavy duty isnt a prob due to the better design of aftermarket springs. The old springs had 3 thick leaves the new ones 5 thin leaves Result is good load holding but better suppleness which allows for a good ride and good articulation. It wouldnt suprise me if the Pedders and Lovels springs are identical.
