I have a strange problem that I hope others might be able to shed some light on
In the mornings when I press heavily on the brake pedal I get a whistling like noise from under the dash.
At first I thought it must be some sort of alarm as it had a similar pitch but its not.
It seems to be vacuum related and I was wondering if there are any seals that need replacing on the Vacuum assist unit.
Has anyone else had a similar problem?

My brake sometimes does this. Just pressing the brake to take the gearbox out of park is enough to do it. It only happens on that first depression of the pedal too, not at all while driving. I have no idea on the cause, but if it's a risk to the vehicle or safety, someone pls let me know! My MU is due for a service so I'll ask the mechanic if I remember. Ciao! Graham.

I have exactly the same problem to on my 95 Mu but was finding it hard to describe the noise. The brakes work really well, but with the brakes on (say when you are parked with your foot on them) I am still able to push the pedal down a bit more like a springy feeling. I don't know that it is so much a spongy feeling. I know you are supposed to change the fluid once in a while but the truck has only done 40,000 kms since new so I doubt it is that as I have other vehicles that have done mega kms and never had a problem. I once had a problem on my 2.8 Mu with one of the vaccum hoses going, and believe me you know there is something wrong when you have to use 2 feet to stop it with a load of people on. If anyone has any ideas about the piezo type noise I would also be glad to know.

sounds like a small leak in the diaphame in the booster. Try parking for an hour or so with engine off and see if the booster still assits braking. You should get 2 - 3 bake operations before the peddle goes hard. Dont know if this is fix or replace complete
