Has anyone come across 4.88 diff gear sets for Isuzu (rear)? Factory ratios are 4.1 to 4.77. Is this the reason the guys doing SAS are putting Patrol or Hilux axles in the back?

try 4.3 or 4.56 as the official ratios. If your doing a SAS it makes sence to do the rear as well although hilux does come in 4.56 so a hilux front will work with isuzu rear. Ive only heard of 4.88 diffs never seen one Dont think they ever made it out of USA where they were used on trucks with 31 inch tyres and 2.6 petrol engine. Your not thinking or 35s on the wizard are you or have you seen the new 40 inch ttrepadoor tyrs at 4x4bits??

Independent4x has -a 5.38 Isuzu 12 bolt rear diff -5.38 gears for the Isuzu 12 bolt rear -but nothing about 5.38 for the front 10 bolt www.independent4x.comUnder the 5.38 12 bolt diff page it says "used TERA 5.38 RING & PINION" If I remember correctly, Tera is a brand of drivetrain/gearing products. Could check it out? Andy.

Just throwing some ideas around for the distant future. Yes I am thinking about 35s (40" is too big, lots of clubs and properties restrict tyre size to 36-37") but will have to do a SAS. I would use a Prado front end. These have high pinion diffs that only come in 4.3 and 4.88. If I go to 35s I would want to go to 4.88. My thoughts were to retain the existing coil sprung rear end with the LSD in it. Toyota LSDs are c$#p, but I could put an auto locker in it.

You could fit a hilux rear and with any luck if you find a coil spring one it will bolt straight up. The leaf spring ones do in a Mu. One word of warning the hilux and prado 4.88 gears aint that strong. I know someone who has blown 5 diffs in 6 months He had to wait for the last one as none in the country. He was running a 12 inch lift and 37 inch creepy crawlies.
