Going to replace my leaf springs next as my front end is now 10mm taller that the rear. Just asked Lovells for a quote on a set of Rodeo HD springs + New U bolts and poly bushes. Will also get prices from Pedders probably skip ARB, anyone else in the Sydney area I should ask? I will fit them myself and post pics and prices as & when. J

If I recall properly I got a set of new TJM Jackaroo 5+1 leaf springs which are quite stiff like the Rodeo HD for around $520. I could not argue with the 3year/100,000kms warranty that comes with all TJM suspension components.

Lovells (via Warringah Brakes as they don't sell direct anymore), have just priced the following set up at $474. 2 x HR-15 H/D Rodeo Springs 4 x UBL-18 Ubolts 2 x N710021 Rear Bushes 1 x N71506 Front bush kit. I don't feel I need to look further on that one, I will order them today. J

Justin, you wont go wrong with the lovells and they are reasonably priced. Im very shocked at the Pedders cost, that hwere I got mine (no-one would order anything for the MU except them at the time) and I paid about $400 for the rear HD trackrider leaves. Add a few bucks for Ubolts, bushes etc...but $800??? Thats just insane!
Goodluck with it!!
Matt.

Justin, that's a big difference in height. How does it drive? My MU's suspension is a bit dissapointing. I replaced the rear shocks less than 10,000Kms ago, and it improved the ride comfort & handling, but now it's harsher than before. I'm considering copying your shackles & leaf spring upgrades Cheers, Graham.

It drives well actually, firm and minimum body roll on bends, I re-indexed the T/Bars this afternoon so now there is only 50mm between front and back at 920/970mm. I will go and get a wheel alignment tomorrow and it should be done. I didn't want to crank the front up to much because of the stress on the CV's, but without the 2.5inch lift shackles I'd expect you'd pick up a good 50+mm on your setup, with the uprated springs. J

Thanks to the Jacknived truck on the way to work this morning I had to take the alternate route via South america which allowed me to get up to 90KPH and I have developed a bit of a tailshaft rattle which would have a lot to do with the crazy angle the lift has created. So I have ordered a set of greasable shackles today and I'll swap them for the lift shackles which should bring the rear down to the same-ish as the front at 920mm. So it looks like there maybe a limit to lifting the rear before engineering is incurred. J

J do you still have the old spring hangers??
If so I would just throw them in for a few months and when the springs settle a tad and your lift has dropped...then throw your Calmini ones back in!
Looks good and you will notice the new springs are twin Mil wrap, not the single wrap the old ones were (hence why I wouldnt bother resetting the oldies) if the load spring snaps then they will still support and ride on the second wrap!
Matt.

Yep I thought about that, but I have no idea where they are and I was advised to use greasable ones with the poly bushes! But I will hang on to the Calmini's for that very reason.J

Justin, that tailshaft vibrations you talked of, did that occur when the tailshaft was not under acceleration or decleration, when the talishaft is at it's most,....."relaxed state" while driving? I ask Because this is what I have had on the mU for a month or so now since the new suspension. Mu measures 940 one side and 950 the other side???(tyres and pressures are both the same) plus I have the normal shackles. Getting it re-looked at this week sometime and maybe double check the spring settings.
Cheers Chris

It occured at a certain speed, around 85+ whether I was accelerating or decelerating and it sounded metallic like an exhaust rattle at high speed. The drop from 970 to 940 has made it dissapear and it just took the tyre place an hour to align the wheels, but they did an excellent job and it is silent now. I would be surprised if your rear leaf springs are set differently check the front mesurements, as if a T/bar is cranked higher than the other that would make the diagonally opposing leaf spring drop slightly.
I had a read through our previous posts about how high your MU was and most of the really big lifts envolved body + suspension. Mine is only suspension so I really feel anything over 950mm on the suspension and you may well get things out of normal operating alignment. J

Just finished installing new rear springs on the MU. Ended up getting the springs, greasable shakels & new bushes. The new Ubolts were the wrong size, I will change them tomorow. Total cost $357.50 from Trekmaster in Brisbane. Before measurements Front:735 both sides. Rear :700 both sides After winding TB Front:755 both sides New springs rear :775 both sides. ;D The measurements were measured from the lip on the rim at the bottom through the axle axis to the guard. Will take it for a test drive in the morning. have to get a wheel alignment as well. Dave

Nice price on the spring set Dave, what brand were they? Your running 15" wheels aren't you? What was the measurement from the centre of the axle to the lip of the gaurd in a verticle axis? Your truck didn't look that low when I saw it but its hard to judge. Mine are 550mm/570mm F/R. J

Justin, The springs were made by Carols Springworks through 4WD Trekmaster 33559722. I am running 15"wheels. The numbers are front:545. rear:565 & i love it, will be taking it out this weekend.

That makes sense, wow I didn't realise that 16" wheels gave me that much extra height. I will be giving mine a run up at Treachery beach in Early Feb. J

Justin, What greasable shackles did you end up getting? Looking to do the same thing with mine. Cheers..
