this came out of a old model supra with a 7mgt engine,my work shop is located near a scrapyard/wreakers so i had a look at all the indepandant rear suspention from mercs to nissan etc,and in terms of IRS(INDI REAR SUS)this looks to be the best layout, there is lot of them, good travel heavy duty and the best part final drive is the same 4.5

need to do some mods,it has five lugs, you can go for spacer that converts them to 6 lugs, but i sent it to an egineering shop to have it converted to a 6 lug,the calipers are originally metal single pot but i mod them to aluminium 2 pot off a nissan, the hand brake are drum off the disc but i changing them do a disc brake mounted on the drive shaft,i'll add some pics if you're interested...

I'm goona ask a stupid question due to not totally well conversed with the ways of doing things .....well the way you are doing things ;D
But......explain to me why are you doing this conversion, I'm very curious to know the reasons behind the actions plse?

its easy,it because of application,an isuzu rodeo is a work horse, all configuration of the car is based on that,so what i am doing is to make it more like a car, don't ask me why.example, the rear suspention is too stiff with out load so change to coils springs,no... add independant coil spirngs, that would be better, lower unsprung weight!!!.another reason is because its never been done before, secondly i get to many negative feed back so i wanna prove them wrong(people in my town)hope that answers your Q.

Independant suspension has never been liked by the off road community because it limits travel and is seen by many as complicated therefore fragile. We all know the Isuzu front end is as strong as any live axle setup but do have to concede defeat on the travel issue. The limiting factor is not the travel allowed by the wisbones but it is limited at the wishbones to prevent over large angles on the cv joints which will break them. The cv angles are due to the offset diff and long axle tube on the other side. This wont be a problem on a rear diff as you can have much longer half shafts. Sounds like an interesting project

Conrad, that sounds like a hell of a project. My interest is not for off roading but for a sportscar project(maybe) ;D, I'd certainly like to see some piccies as you progress & all the best for it, show the doubters what can be done! Steve.

have just installed the supercharger on the rodeo to test for any faults, supercharger was misaline by 5mm so i welded two nut on the bracket, problem solved!so then i cranked the engine up and WHINNNNEEEEE it went,it is loud but such a weird sound...blip the fuel pump a few times to check again and all is well, responds was good, went in to the cabin expecting big boost number.DAMN!!! ALL I GOT WAS 3psi at 3000rpm,i think the good responds was because no back pressure (plus the odd 2-3psi)coz turbo was not in the engine anymore, think i need to enlarge the crank shaft pulley from 6"dia to an 8" of 10" dia.back to the drawing board again...pics will be in tomorrow

this is some of the pics of the supercharger in the engine bay for testing i took off the crankshaft pulley soon after the pics were taken,i'm having a 10" pulley made to get a 2:1 ratio SC:crankshaft just to get more boost earlier.

just got to test new pulley for supercharger, previous pulley was 6.5 in dia. got me 4psi, now with the new pulley i got 8 psi the difference may be a little but the response was really good, and the sound, wooh!!!its really loud now, can't even hear the engine.i'm very happy with it now,on idle i got 3psi.the rpm just shoots up, especially after 2000rpm,the neddle just jumps to 3000rpm,coooool man.all testing was done stationary so i am yet to take it for a test drive ,i am going to test it with out the turbo first to see how the supercharger is,hehehe

turbo charger is in the engine now,but water cooling and oil return plumbing on going,i think that its the last 10% of this build is the most difficult,

been a bit busy this past few weeks but finally i'm putting the goods in the car, managed to start the engine this evening to check on the turbo charger and the VATN turbo doesn't seem to spin as fast as a small nissan turbo(not supprising that the new turbo is rated for 400hp),tomorrow i will put the supercharger online with the turbo system, the goal here is to see whether the supercharger boost will help the turbo charger spool up earlier, suprisingly engine does not have a load note considering the exhaust is what you see in the pics(unfinished exhaust)

took the car out for a the first time, boost build was insane!!!there is a lot of diference between reving the car in the parking bay and driving it,the result i got was that at 2000rpm i got 20psi,and this is just driving normally,15% throtle, this is where it got really crazy,i floored the pedal and the boost jumped to 25psi at 2300rpm,as fast as i floored it i lift off laughing, coudn't believe the booost meter reading 25psi,one reason for the massive boost was that i disconnected all signal lines from the waste gate to see the potential running this system, more testing soon,
